Welcome back! Have you subscribed to my email newsletter yet?

Today…
Outside my window: it’s gray and miserable again. Welcome to New England.

I am hearing: Mrs Spider’s sunny patch friends, a show on nick jr that my three year old likes, and myself sniffling because I have a cold.

I am thinking: nothing. I’m all fogged up, so thinking isn’t happening at the moment.

I am hoping: that I get a chance to shower before I run out to the bank. I’m also hoping that Alex decides to stay home instead of going to practice. He needs the rest.

I am watching: nothing at the moment. I just watched last night’s episodes of House and Castle. I found out that Eastwick is canceled, but Forgotten is going to have more new episodes, which is a total bummer because Eastwick was at least different then all the mysteries on right now. I’m waiting for last night’s Gossip Girl to finish downloading so I can watch that.

I am creating: oh boy. Getting sick really backlogged my work. I need to focus on that asap.

I am wearing: a nightgown with my husband’s pajama pants underneath.

In the kitchen: is a clean sink, because our Finnish house guest does dishes.  For dinner this week..did I really lose my meal plan again? Well, since I can’t find it, and there’s chicken breasts defrosting in the fridge, here’s what we’ll be eating:

  • Monday: Beef Post Roast with potatoes and carrots
  • Tuesday: Chicken and veggie stir fry
  • Wednesday: Chicken parm with french fries (cause, seriously, french fries with pasta sauce is awesome)
  • Thursday:  Something else I defrost from the freezer – maybe sausage and pappers
  • Friday: leftover fritatta, per usual

Around the house: Well, the aformentioned house guest. I need to sweep/vacuum/mop the whole house. It’s week 2, which means I’m focusing on the Master Bedroom. I’ve already started to tackle the mountains of laundry around my room. I changed the sheets, dusted a little, and straighted up. Not much left to do, just the rest of the laundry and installing shelves for my shoes. I don’t care if we’re moving in a month or two. I’ve asked for these damn shelves for a year now, and I’m going to have them – even if I have to do it myself.

Plans for the week: I rescheduled my pap smear, which you all needed to know, right? I have a cold, so I really just want to rest. I have therapy Thursday. I want to teach my cousin how to run my online store, so I can eventually just give it to her. Oh, yeah, and all that work I’ve been putting off so I can rest and get better.

A few things to share:

  1. Wow I am really shocked that they are canceling Eastwick. At least they are planning to (eventually) show the rest of the episodes. So sad cause Dan and I both enjoy Eastwick a lot and coincidentally I just deleted The Forgotten from my DVR this week.

  2. The show is a little slow compared to the things I normally watch, but it’s got a great cast, and I really want to know what happens. I hope another network picks it up. I’m thinking of sticking my nose into the CW offices and telling them that it’ll attract their demographic.

  • A beautiful kitchen island (finally!)
Welcome to what I like to call THE LONGEST PROJECT IN THE HISTORY OF MAN. OK, a little dramatic, but really. It took forever. Serious. Serious. It started two and a half years ago when I took our builder basic kitchen island: And added some molding and paint: The sides of the island were made from that crapastic laminate stuff that you need to paint with pri […]

  • Disturbing. Distressing. Heartbreaking. Sad.
A sense of sadness. Uneasiness. Distress. A memory of many decades ago. Back. Clear. Painful. Like it just happened. Just now. It involves a boy. A young boy… 14, going on 15. A boy I had in one of my Reading classes. A boy whom Barry had, too, in one of his Math classes. The boy was small.  Slight.  A shock of black, wavy hair a stark contrast to his pale s […]

  • How to Bring Peace to the Witching Hour
Many parents notice that from roughly 4 to 5 pm, every day is a difficult time for their children. This rough spot in the day seems to affect children from newborns on up to adolescence.  To be honest, it’s the one time of the day that takes me to the brink of absolutely losing it. What is the witching hour? This hour that rocks and rolls in all the wrong wa […]

  • Emotional RICE
Any good derby girl (that is, one who has had an injury) knows the importance of RICE: Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. Following these steps ensures a timely recovery from the breaks and bruises that come with the sport. I am an expert at these steps because I have suffered quite a few injuries over the past few years. I was thinking how nice it would […]

  • On geeking out.
Yesterday was a day for geeking out. I posted a cute video of my 4 year old telling me a Phineas and Ferb bedtime story, swooning with mommy love at his creativity and may I just say, fantastic memory. It really impresses me how much of the show’s details he has absorbed and memorized – and this is a trait that carries through to many other areas. Songs we l […]
